    Which models are affected by the safety recall?

    Model year 2013 Can-Am Commander™ equipped with Dynamic Power Steering (DPS).

    To confirm that your VIN (Vehicle identification Number) is affected, contact your authorized Can-Am side-by-side dealer.

    What is the potential problem?

    Steering coupling splines may strip on rack and pinion assembly. In some circumstances, this situation may result in a loss of steering control and possibly cause injuries or even death.

    This notice is sent to you in accordance with the requirements of the Consumer Product Safety Act and the Canada Motor Vehicle Safety Act. Bombardier Recreational Products Inc. and BRP US Inc. (""BRP"") have decided that a defect which relates to motor vehicle safety exists on certain side-by-side vehicle of the models below and are conducting a voluntary safety recall.

    Dear Can-Am Owner,

    This notice is being sent to you in accordance with the requirements of the Consumer Product Safety Act and the Canada Motor Vehicle Safety Act. Bombardier Recreational Products Inc. and BRP US Inc. ("BRP") have decided that a defect which relates to motor vehicle safety exists on some Can- Am Commander side-by-side models and are conducting a safety recall.

     

    What is the potential problem?

    Some very specific riding terrains and conditions where the vehicle is driven in water (minimum of 310 mm, 12 inches deep) containing an important quantity of floating debris such as grass, hay and leaves may generate significant accumulation of debris in a short period of time in the exhaust area.

    Dear Can-Am Owner,

     

    What is the potential problem?

    Some vehicles may have been delivered or repaired with a DPS that has cracks on its main shaft. Pieces may detach inside the DPS and may block gears resulting in a sudden limitation of the vehicle steering range. In some situation, the operator could loose control of the vehicle which could result in serious injuries or even death.

There are currently no Safety Recall notices.
