    Dear Can-Am® Dealer / Distributor,

    BRP is conducting a safety recall on certain side-by-side models.

    What is the potential problem?
    On certain 2017 Can-Am Maverick® X3 vehicles, the steering rack and pinion assembly may have been manufactured by our supplier with an improper amount of grease. In some circumstances, this situation may result in steering lock which could lead to injury or even death.

    Which models are involved?
    Certain serial numbers of model year 2017 Can-Am Maverick X3. All potentially involved vehicles are already coded according to the safety campaign accessible in BOSSWeb.

    What will BRP do?
    BRP intends to repair involved vehicles free of charge for the customer (parts and labor).  

    For customers:

    • Within direct markets : BRP will send a Safety Recall letter to all known registered owners. This letter urges owners to immediately contact their authorized BRP dealer in order to schedule an appointment to have their vehicle repaired.
    • Within distributor market :BRP is notifying the distributors. Distributors are responsible to fulfill all necessary legal requirements in their respective markets.

     

    BRP recommends that they avoid using their vehicle until the repair is performed.

    BRP is also posting this notice on its BOSSWeb dealer website (www.bossweb.brp.com). Information for customers will be posted on its public website (www.can-am.brp.com).

    What should you do?

    • Do not sell or deliver any involved vehicle that you have in stock as federal law requires you to complete the recall service on these vehicles before retail delivery.
    • Contact all of your customers who have purchased an affected Can-Am side-by-side. You must inform them about the foregoing and must request they schedule an appointment to get their vehicle repaired.
    • Follow all instructions that will be provided in the Safety Campaign Bulletin.

    Model year 2013 Can-Am Commander™ equipped with Dynamic Power Steering (DPS).

    To confirm that your VIN (Vehicle identification Number) is affected, contact your authorized Can-Am side-by-side dealer.

    Dear Can-Am™ Side-by-side Owner,

    This notice is sent to you in accordance with the requirements of the Consumer Product Safety Act and the Canada Motor Vehicle Safety Act. Bombardier Recreational Products Inc. and BRP US Inc. (""BRP"") have decided that a defect which relates to motor vehicle safety exists on certain side-by-side vehicle of the models below and are conducting a voluntary safety recall.
